Pack sizes, schemes and credit at a paint counter
A paint counter sells the same product in four or five pack sizes, in base and ready shades, to painters, contractors and walk-in buyers. The bill has to be quick, the rate right for the pack, and the painter's credit visible before the next job.
- One item per pack size: Interior emulsion 20 L and Interior emulsion 4 L as separate items, each with its own rate and unit.
- HSN on the item: most water-based paints sit in 3209, solvent-based in 3208 and putty in 3214; set 6 digits once. Check with CA
- Walk-in and contractor at one counter: a walk-in buyer gets a B2C bill; a registered contractor gets a B2B invoice with an IRN when your turnover requires one.
- Credit days per painter: reminders go on the due date with a payment link, and the A–E grade warns you before you bill a slow payer again.
Company schemes
Paint companies run quantity slabs and quarterly targets. Set them up per item in Promotions so the counter knows what is live. Applying the discount on the bill line by itself, with a report of what each scheme earned, is the next step and is coming soon.

Which HSN codes do paint dealers use?
Water-based paints and emulsions are usually in 3209, solvent-based paints and enamels in 3208, and wall putty in 3214. Use 6 digits above ₹5 crore turnover and check each code with your CA.
Can I track shades and tinting?
Put the shade in the item name or in the line description. Tinting-machine formulas and shade-wise stock are not in Moharbill.
