Tamil Nadu textile trade
Western Tamil Nadu is one of India's main textile regions. Erode has large wholesale cloth markets, including Texvalley, an integrated wholesale market set up under the Ministry of Textiles' powerloom cluster scheme. Powerloom and handloom cloth comes from Erode, Bhavani and Chennimalai, Tiruppur is a knitwear and garment centre, and Coimbatore supplies yarn.
Wholesalers here sell to retailers across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, so bills switch between CGST + SGST and IGST all day, and loads to other states need an e-way bill above ₹50,000.
